Can I Feed Chives To Dogs?

No! Chives are actually poisonous to dogs and also cats. The level of toxicity is generally mild to moderate and cause a variety of health concerns.

Dogs need to avoid eating chives, leeks, garlic and onions as they are all from the Allium family and are poisonous to dogs and cats.

Some symptoms to look out for if you think your dog has eaten chives include:

Drooling
Pale gums
Lethargy
Oral irritation
Collapse
Diarrhea
Vomiting
Exercise intolerance
Weakness
Nausea
Abdominal pain
Elevated heart rate & respiratory rate
