Sesame is a seed that comes from the flowering plant in the genus Sesamum, also called benne [Source].
Sesame seeds are in a variety of recipes but most often added as a topping on breads, bagels, pretzels, hot dog and hamburger buns.
There is always a concern that when you share food with your pet that they may have an allergic reaction so this should always be considered.
So can dogs eat sesame seeds at all?
Yes, but only in moderation.
This is even the case for humans as they only eat a small amount usually on the top of a bun with their meal and that is it.
For dogs is is important that they don’t eat too many sesame seeds as they are high in carbs and calories which isn’t good for their health.
However on the positive side of things sesame seeds are loaded in other vitamins and protein which is great for their health.
